Golfetto Nowadays
In 1952 the Berga spa is founded. BERGA initially specialized in manufacturing mill machinery and storage silos, but later widened its production to include equipment for feed mills. Gearing itself to market demands, the Company then developed its activity to engineering and manufacturing feed milling plants, achieving a prominent role in the most important European markets within a few years.
By the 1970s, BERGA was known in the European market as a leading company in the engineering and realization of cereal milling plants, feed mills, storage silos and grain terminals for ship loading and unloading. From that moment on, the Company continued its ascent. New premises were opened in Europe and North Africa.
In 1976, the operative seat of Berga moved to Quinto, near Treviso, to a plant covering an area of 25,000 sqm. This was followed by more important structural and logistic changes. New manufacturing facilities were established all over the world. Production was increased by using more update automation systems. Analysis methods and procedures were computerized. These moves helped the Company to reach a good level of rationalization of costs and energy consumption, resulting in an organization on the vanguard.
At the end of the 1980s, to crown this successful period, BERGA acquired a majority share of the prestigious SANGATI trademark, a Company located in Padova that had been working in the milling field since 1929.
This merger represented the beginning of a process of optimization of synergies, which gave birth to a new generation of machines and completely automated and computerized plants. The technological qualities of the two different schools of milling were joined to develop new methods of cereal processing, the maximum expression of modern milling technology. Sangati and Berga preserved their separate names until 1997, when the two company merged definitively.
The months before and after the year 2000 were an important time for Sangati Berga, during which it acquired 50% of the capital of Golfetto spa, also based in Padova and a world leader in the engineering and realization of
cereal processing machinery and plants. The result was a profitable union of technologies and engineering know-how, a reorganization that integrated the technical, productive and commercial structure of Sangati Berga and Golfetto.
This led to the birth of GBS Group spa, owner of the "Sangati Berga" and "Golfetto" trademarks, two lines of products able to meet the ever more demanding requests on the world market with advanced and customer-oriented technological solutions.
